Director's Welcome
We take great pride in showcasing within this website the range of courses and activities offered by the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Our students benefit from degrees that can be tailored according to individual interests as they prepare for a significant future life in music. We offer an extensive practical program that includes one-to-one instrumental/vocal tuition, and regular master-classes with visiting national and international artists. We also offer a comprehensive and musically stimulating suite of ensemble opportunities, from chamber to large orchestra, and across all genres of western art music, including many types of instrumental, early music and vocal ensembles. Included in our offerings is a range of innovative Breadth subjects for students not specializing in music who wish to perform in ensembles or take options in music history, music psychology, and music health. Importantly, all students enjoy a lively concert life with regular lunchtime and evening concerts by students, professionals and visiting artists.
Melbourne Conservatorium of Music staff are among the most gifted and passionate in Australia and their distinguished achievements offer students a challenging, inspiring education designed to prepare musicians for the most prestigious opportunities available to them.
Our extensive student support network includes a Trusts and Bequests program that supports a number of students with scholarships and other types of financial aid in addition to Melbourne Global Mobility Scholarships that support student exchanges to some of the world’s most prestigious music schools.
In keeping with the overall mission of the University, we want our students to dream large and to go further, faster. Our aim, therefore, is to cultivate and inspire talent, and to facilitate successful futures in music through courses that enable our graduates to gain employment in the full range of occupations that require musical ability.
We hope that you will find the material presented in this website informative and look forward to answering your questions if you need further advice.
